“We’re going to test your dog for rabies.”

“Ok.”

“To do this we’re going to have to decapitate him and then test his brain tissue. Like the monkey scene from Indiana Jones. But we don’t eat the brains usually.”

I have to believe there’s another way.

In the case referenced there certainly was--quarantine and watch.

And what was the result?

Animal rights is one of those things where I think most people's intuitions are way off. It makes no sense to be a meat eater but also admonish animal experimentation. Both groups display an equal concern for the wellbeing of the animal (near-zero). Is hurting an animal to develop medical devices really worse than hurting an animal because you like hamburgers?

Hurting is a word that can describe farming or not. Chickens that are raised cage free have stronger vitamin content. The way an animal raised makes it stronger or weaker. For humans to eat an animal is no different than if a cougar eats an animal. The difference for humans is how that animal is harvested. Humans have a right to choose Vegan or Vegetarian lifestyle. A cougar does not have that capacity. We can do better because we can think and make choices. Please do not confuse humans eating meat with humans not desiring to be responsible in animal husbandry.

Thank you for listening. Im very glad to support the White Coats to help stop animal testing. There may be a need for human or animal testing but at this moment in time it is an abused situation because of scientist getting grants and seeking money in new pharmaceuticals.

Today there is AI, computers, no more excuses for testing on innocent animals. Animal testing must be ban everywhere.

Its a shame that it takes a tragedy to get attention to a deserved problem. Why dont we have common sense rules? I really hope if Trump is elected he gets rid of the FISA court. It’s a constitutional anomaly. No over-site. No follow through. Animals should be treated with respect as well as our earth (and humans). Humans have a responsibility to use reason and common sense with respect and kindness in all laws. And we need to have accountability for other humans who disrespect life and our Bill of Rights. The people who killed Pnut should be fired. They did not follow protocol. Squirrels by another government agency stated they do not normally have rabies. So why the drama? To prove they are the boss. Are they?
