The reason that I don’t want Josh to be VP is because I like him as my governor! I think he has taken a moderate view towards Israel and Palestine. Regardless, he’s a governor. They are not expected to know all about foreign policy. It remains to be seen what his policy positions would be after he received privileged information and briefings.

Sadly, he was rejected for being Jewish. But that's okay. Jews don't count.

It is sad that we live in such a divisive time. I have complex feelings about all of this so a note is not really where or how I want to express myself on anti-Semitism and Israel.

I am happy to keep Josh as governor. I think he’s got bigger things to come but Pennsylvania (primarily a white, Christian state that I would not classify as progressive) needs his expertise. As the US Supreme Court continues to roll out new opinions, the states are becoming increasingly more important than the federal government in terms of impact on our everyday lives.

What exasperates me is when people pick one issue that is important to them and then decide if the politician does not agree with them on that one issue then everything else they agreed with them on is meaningless. There are no solutions, only trade-offs. There are numerous things I disagree with Harris on and yet I will have no problem voting for her. Those issues can be dealt with after winning the election. He's a governor, not someone who is promoting US foreign policy. I would definitely want him on the ticket. And I get why someone in Pa doesn't want to lose him as governor.

Thank you for profiling someone who does not see the situation in black and white terms. I agree there needs to be a comprehensive understanding of the years since negotiations in 2000 (settlers/collective punishments etc) and at the same time no support for AQ-like practices of Oct 7. Unfortunately as we know all too well, this kind of humane and just voice gets drowned out in the violence and is increasingly marginalized in the ME, esp as a result of US policies. The Christian and other historical minority populations of the ME and voices like hers are being systematically decimated

Who is decimating the voices of historical minority populations in the Middle East? I dare you to name it.

Thanks for that. That woman is a fool and a racist

Worst are Islamist extremist militias. Among other countries, Turkey funds such in various places, but also planned and guided ethnic cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh and incursions into N Syria ongoing. Unfortunately extreme behavior by settlers on W Bank and Jerusalem also has had consequence of whittling away Christian populations, among Palestinians but also now the Armenian quarter

"Rebeiz just doesn’t think the same man who demonstrated so much compassion and concern for her and her son last year has been able to do the same for the Palestinian people."

She & her son are Shapiro's constituents. It's his job to make an effort to address their needs. He has no obligations towards the needs of people outside of PA, let alone outside the US, even if it's an issue some of his constituents have an emotional attachment to.

Saying you won't support a governor that you otherwise believe is compassionate & — more crucially — effective because he's not on board with your views about a foreign conflict prioritizes the needs of foreigners over the material interests of Americans. I find this to be an unsympathetic position & I suspect I'm not the only one. This is letting the perfect be the enemy of the good.

I didn't get into as much in this piece, but Shapiro was involved in efforts to remove UPenn's president which made the issue a more domestic one. I would agree that Shapiro as a Governor is obviously not a foreign policymaker.

He was right to have that racist removed. Why is anti-Jewish racism the only form of racism accepted (and even embraced) by the Left? This is sickening.

Sad but true. There's only one form of acceptable racism on the Left and it's anti-Jewish racism. They are venal hypocrites and I am beyond through with them.

This woman just gets worse and worse. She said: "A lot of my students were in the protests. And some of them are students of color. So how dare he compare these students to the most heinous movements in the United States’s history." (Never mind that people of color are some of the MOST racist people on the planet! In some Arab nations they still enslave Black Africans) She continued “He compared them as if they’re all one bloc, like they’re all hateful, they’re all racist.”

Brilliant. This was her "good people on both sides" response.

I'm a lifelong Dem, but hateful hypocrisy like this will be keeping me home on election day. As long as they've got the racist academic vote sewn up, I'm sure they don't need mine. We'll see.

This quote is nauseating: "Rebeiz found it frustrating that Shapiro hasn’t joined other governors who have made forceful calls for a ceasefire in the Middle East, complaining that his support for the Israeli government’s position has been unwavering."

What does a call for a ceasefire in the Middle East do except alienate and further marginalize Jewish Americans? Nothing. It does nothing.

Jewish Americans are being attacked, harassed, and terrorized in their own schools, businesses, and neighborhoods.

A pointless and performative call for a ceasefire only serves to inflame the myth that Israel (the world's only Jewish state, in a world with over 20 Arab states) is uniquely evil and implicates all Jews around the world who dare to support the Jewish homeland.

The so called "compassion" of Kamala Harris has led to her rejecting the most qualified candidate to serve as VP because of his Jewish ethnicity.

Clearly Ms. Rebeiz expects Governor Shapiro to extend compassion to her that she has no intention of extending to him or to any other Jewish people who care about the Jewish homeland.

This double standard is a dangerous form of racism, and Ms. Rebeiz needs heal her own lack of compassion before passing judgement on other people.

The Klan was no where near the most heinous organization in American history or whatever the libs in this story are babbling about. They live in a Marvel movie and recite the same sentimental slop they were fed a children. How anyone can read their moralizing and take it at all seriously is beyond me.
