The shameless bipartisan lawlessness at the highest level of our government and justice system allow foreign and/or domestic bribery and blackmail operations like Epstein's to flourish. It is ironic that the unfortunate antisemitic resentment some American citizens might feel when they witness Israel blackmailing and/or bribing their 'representatives' is used by Israel to justify its existence. It is also the perfect environment for creatures like Trump to thrive and grow to the delight of genocidal wack jobs like his top donors.
Great post, Zaid. Look forward to checking out your New Lines Magazine piece also as I think it explores some solutions to our current divisions?
I think the biggest problem/challenge in America now is the closed housing market to large amounts of our youth, who don’t have access to generational wealth.
And if you don’t have a home, then you are way less likely to love your country, or even have a family. Because what after all is there to protect? People in their 20’s and 30’s are getting a raw deal and if we do address this we’ll continue to have chaos, scorn of the elites, and ultimately a crumbling Republic.
Populism is about how the population can increase its satisfaction and security. Less home ownership = less satisfaction and less security. It all starts from home ownership. In fact our original founding fathers restricted vote only to landowners, because they knew those citizens had something to protect!
Three key ways to increase home ownership:
1. Cut interest rates. Trump is right to be all up in Powell’s ass about this.
2. Heavily restrict short term rentals (Airbnb). Homes are getting snatched up by the wealthy and rented out, limiting availability of home ownership to out youth
3. Increase wages. Whatever you think about mass deportations, one positive to natives is that wages will increase when there’s more jobs than people to fill.
I think US Labor Unions could capitalize on above and reinvigorate their lost Populist power. And in doing so, lead America to be Great Again.
This is good.
But the net-net of this situation reminds me of Geraldo and Al Capone's vault.
Remember all the hype?
And it was all a big nada. .... Nothing Nyet.
